Timea Sipos is a Hungarian-American writer and translator with an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Originally from Budapest, she later studied literary translation at the Balassi Institute in her beloved city.

She is a 2022 Tennessee Williams and New Orleans Literary Festival Fiction Contest Winner and has earned the support of MacDowell, the Steinbeck Fellowship, Tin House, and the Vermont Studio Center, among others. She translates writers such as Márton Simon, Ilka Papp-Zakor, Panni Puskás, Éva Veronika Kalapos, Mátyás Dunajcsik, Ferenc Czinki, Zita Izsó, and Tibor Babiczky.

She is currently finishing a speculative novel-in-stories set in Budapest about animated statues and the Hungarian women who sculpt them. Her literary agent is Heather Carr of the Friedrich Agency. Her poetry chapbook, The Shapes Our Tongues Make, is out now with Bottlecap Press
